About Christy Barritt

Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

My Rating: 4 Stars!

‘His whole life had been proof that what a person hoped waited for them in the future was often not reality.

This was the first book I’d read by Christy Barritt. I’d heard other readers talk about how good she was and finally got a chance to see for myself that she was indeed a very good suspense writer. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were believable, the plot was tight and the writing well done. I will read more by this author.

‘A Single Light’ by Tosca Lee

About The Book

In this gripping sequel to The Line Between, which New York Times bestselling author Alex Kava calls “everything you want in a thriller,” cult escapee Wynter Roth and ex-soldier Chase Miller emerge from their bunker to find a country ravaged by disease, and Wynter is the only one who can save it.

Six months after vanishing into an underground silo with sixty others, Wynter and Chase emerge to find the area abandoned. There is no sign of Noah and the rest of the group that was supposed to greet them when they emerged—the same people Wynter was counting on to help her locate the IV antibiotics her gravely ill friend, Julie, needs in order to live.

As the clock ticks down on Julie’s life, Wynter and Chase embark on a desperate search for medicine and answers. But what they find is not a nation on the cusp of recovery thanks to the promising new vaccine Wynter herself had a hand in creating, but one decimated by disease. What happened while they were underground?

With food and water in limited supply and their own survival in question, Chase and Wynter must venture further and further from the silo. Aided by an enigmatic mute named Otto, they come face-to-face with a society radically changed by global pandemic, where communities scrabble to survive under rogue leaders and cities are war zones. As hope fades by the hour and Wynter learns the terrible truth of the last six months, she is called upon once again to help save the nation she no longer recognizes—a place so dark she’s no longer sure it can even survive.

Fast-paced and taut, A Single Light is a breathless thriller of nonstop suspense about the risks of living in a world outside the safe confines of our closely-held beliefs and the relationships and lives that inspire us.

Don’t miss this riveting conclusion to The Line Between!

My Rating: 4 Stars!

I have been eagerly awaiting the sequel to Tosca Lee’s first novel in this series. The Line Between was amazing. This book picks up where the first left off. Wynter and Chase along with 60 more are sealed on the silo for six months. Waiting to be unsealed and hoping for a better world when they emerge, they are sadly disappointed in a world seemingly gone completely mad. Desperate to find antibiotics to save a life, they encounter madness after madness. Come along on this riveting journey with them. You will not be disappointed.

‘Do not underestimate me. I have never cowered from danger and I shall not start now.’

Jody Hedlund’s first book in The Lost Princesses is so good! The prequel novella, Always, sets the stage for this one, so it really needs to be read first. Adelaide, who is in reality the Crown Princess Constance, has been hidden for 17 years with a family loyal to her late father and mother, the king and queen of Mercia. When her adoptive mother dies, she reveals to Adelaide her true identity. From then on, danger follows her as the evil King Ethelwulf is set on killing her.

Sir Christopher of Langley, adoptive brother of Adelaide, left his home thinking his father supported the evil king, and swore his fealty to the King of a neighboring country. He has now returned and discovers that Adelaide is no longer a young girl and he has developed feelings for her. But he determines not to act on those feelings because as a queen, he cannot come near to being near her station.

Hedlund has excelled once again with her medieval tale. Truly, I think this is her forte. She does a magnificent job with these stories. I love this time period and she is wonderful at it. I loved every minute and now I can’t wait for the next lost princess’s tale!

My Rating: 5 Stars!

This book was just absolutely delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed every single moment of it. The moment I began reading, I knew it was going to be so much fun. A thoroughly swoon-worthy hero and an engaging heroine made this book. The author’s dry wit throughout was just a wonderful addition as well. Perfect read for a vacation or just anytime you want to read a sweet book. It’s even worthy of a re-read.

*I was provided with a preview copy of this book. My opinion is entirely my own.

September 16, 2019. I am rereading this book and loving it all the more all over again. It is so much fun. I am so connecting with Jacqueline and Beau. This book packs a powerful spiritual wallop, too, which is so amazing. Highly recommended.

When a killer begins injecting victims with Galveston, TX, and those targeted are law enforcement, the FBI sends in two well trained agents, both of whom are snipers. Jon and Leah are tasked with bringing the killer to justice before anyone else is targeted.

This a tight, well written inspirational suspense novel, and I enjoyed it for the most part. About midway through, it kind of bogged down for me and the romance portion seemed a bit forced. But that’s only my opinion. Reviews are very subjective. It is a good novel of suspense and I can recommend it.

‘Something New’ by Joanne Bischof

About The Book

After waiting four years for her best friend to return from sea, Wren Cromwell’s dream of building a life with Tate Kennedy has wilted during his unexpected absence. Then, just as suddenly as he departed the mountain of their childhood, he returns, bringing with him tales of Norway’s icy fjords and his time aboard ship on the North Sea. As spring unfurls around them, so unfolds a new hope in Wren’s heart, and a new chance at love on the horizon. But with Tate’s longing for exciting voyages still alive, will he vanish to the high seas again, or will this land he’s returned to, and Wren’s steadfast love, be enough to nurture his adventurous spirit?

From Christy and Carol Award-winning author, Joanne Bischof, comes a newly repackaged novella once featured in the historical compilation, Heirloom Brides.

About The Author:

An ECPA Christy Award winner and an ACFW Carol Award winner, Joanne Bischof writes deeply layered fiction that tugs at the reader’s heartstrings. Joanne’s 2016 novel, THE LADY AND THE LIONHEART, received an extraordinary 5 Star TOP PICK! from Romantic Times Book Reviews among other critical acclaim. ‘I dislike people who consider rudeness a virtue.’

I love Karin Kaufman’s writing. She writes some very, very nice cozy mysteries. Her Juniper Grove Mysteries are amazing as are her Smithwell Fairies mysteries. Kate Brewer, widowed at 40, solves mysteries with the help of a four inch fairy named Minette. So cute! I never guess the culprit, either. She’s very good at what she does. Both Kaufman and Kate. Recommended.

‘As The Light Fades’ by Catherine West

About The Book:

Sometimes we’re placed in the strangest of circumstances for the most important reasons.

After her carefully constructed life crumbles, Liz Carlisle finds herself back on Nantucket, picking up the pieces. With the family estate under renovations, the solitude she craves seems out of reach.

Matthew Stone intends to steer clear of his new tenant. She’s carrying a load of baggage, but as long as she pays the rent, he’ll let her be. He’s got enough to deal with caring for his wayward niece, Mia.

Liz doesn’t have time for teenagers and her track record with men is abysmal, but an unlikely friendship forms between the three.

When her former boyfriend is charged with assault, Liz is called to testify against him. But he knows the darkest secrets of her life—secrets she’d hoped to keep buried forever, and he’s ready to reveal them. Telling the truth is the right thing to do, but it may cost her everything she’s worked so hard for, and all she’s come to love.

About Catherine West

Catherine West is an award-winning author of contemporary women’s fiction. When she’s not at the computer working on her next story, you can find her taking her Border Collie for long walks or reading books by her favorite authors. She and her husband reside in Bermuda, and have two adult children and two beautiful granddaughters. Catherine is the winner of the 2015 Grace Award (Bridge of Faith) and a two-time winner of Romance Writers of America’s Faith, Hope & Love Reader’s Choice Award (The Things We Knew, 2017 and Where Hope Begins, 2019, and a Carol Award Finalist for Where Hope Begins. Her latest novel, As the Light Fades, released September 2019.

My Rating: 5 Stars!

‘We like to pretend we can handle things we’ve got no business trying to.’

Liz Carlisle returns to her Nantucket family home after her life disintegrates. She moves into the carriage house of Matthew Stone, who is now caring for his 15 year old niece, a surly teen who is hiding great pain. Add a set of parents who were mostly absent from Matthew’s life, a father with dementia, an ex boyfriend bent on revenge and you have all the necessary ingredients for a powerful story.

Catherine West handles this so very well indeed. Emotions are explored, pain is brought out into the open and maybe healing can begin for all involved. West has created a cast of characters that weave their way into your heart and you find yourself cheering for these folks whose lives had been turned upside down and sideways. You wish them well in these dismal seasons of their lives. I was captivated by West’s deftly women story here and her handling of sensitive and compelling issues is top notch. A heart-grabbing story is exactly what it is. I highly recommend it.
