Her heart longs for peace, but peace won’t keep them safe.
Brielle Durand is still haunted by the massacre that killed her mother a dozen years before. Vowing to never let it happen again, she’s risen to be the key defender for her people’s peace-loving French settlement living in hidden caves in the Canadian Rockies. When a foreigner wanders too near to their secret home, she has no choice but to disarm and capture him. But now, what to do with this man who insists he can be trusted?
Hoping to escape past regrets, Evan MacManus ventured into the unknown, assigned to discover if the northern mountains contain an explosive mineral that might help America win the War of 1812. Despite being taken prisoner, Evan is determined to complete his mission. But when that assignment becomes at odds with his growing appreciation of the villagers and Brielle, does he follow through on his promise to his government or take a risk on where his heart is leading him? Either choice will cause harm to someone. Brielle and Evan must reconcile the warring in their hearts to have any hope of finding peace for their peoples.

This book begins a new series and the premise is quite intriguing–a settlement of peaceful people living in hidden caves in the depths of the mountains. Then a stranger wanders in.
It was exciting to learn of these folks and how they’d been hidden away for so very long. And the story was rich. I look forward to more in this series.

One wild and mysterious ghost town. Two second-chance love stories. And the century-old legacy that binds them together.
Upon arriving in Kenworthy, California, mail-order bride Juniper Cohen is met by the pounding of the gold mine, an untamable landscape, and her greatest surprise of all: the kind and loving man who awaits her. But when the mine proves empty of profit, and when Juniper’s husband, John, vanishes, Juniper is left to fend for herself and her young daughter in the dwindling boomtown that is now her home.
Juniper pens letters to her husband but fears she is waiting on a ghost. Perhaps worse, rumors abound claiming the man she loves could be an outlaw. Surviving in a ghost town requires trusting the kindness of a few remaining souls, including the one who can unlock the mystery of her husband’s disappearance—and Juniper’s survival depends not only upon these friends but also the strength of heart she must fight to maintain.
Present day. Trying to escape the heartache of his failed marriage, Johnny Sutherland throws himself into raising his children and restoring a hundred-year-old abandoned farmhouse in what was once known as Kenworthy, California, in the San Jacinto Mountains. While exploring its secrets he uncovers Juniper’s letters and is moved by the handwritten accounts that bear his name—and as a love story from the past touches his own world, Johnny might discover yet that hope and resilience go hand in hand.

About Joanne Bischof A Christy and Carol Award winner, Joanne Bischof writes deeply layered fiction that tugs at the reader’s heartstrings. She lives in the mountains of Southern California with her three children.
3.5. Joanne Bischof dips her feet into a poignant dual time slip novel with this one. It took me a bit to get into the story, but it was easy to feel for Juniper, the strong heroine in the old west portion of the story. In the present, it was good to see how these folks were remembered. Bischof has always proved her writing talent.

I am so very pleased to have Laurel Blount as a guest on my blog today! I discovered her books earlier this year and read every single one as fast as I could. I love connecting so easily with a book’s characters and story line. So, I contacted Laurel and asked if she’d be willing to talk to us a few minutes and she graciously agreed. So, sit back and listen, and don’t forget to follow to the end of this post for a chance to win a copy of the book!
You live on a farm in Georgia. I grew up on a semi farm until age 12. Can you tell us about your life on a farm? We call our place a “hobby farm” which my husband says is code for “we make absolutely no money farming, and our animals are spoiled rotten.” We have about 46 acres, and we have a few Angus cows, one Scottish Highland cow with a feisty personality, and two Jerseys. We also have some Oberhasli dairy goats—currently I have one goat in milk and am making cheeses when I can find the time. We also have a flock of laying hens and some ducks. We normally have large gardens and I can and freeze a lot of our vegetables and fruits for the winter time.
When did you know you wanted to be a writer and how did you get started?
As far back as I can remember, I’ve treasured books. I grew up out in the country back when there was no Internet, and only one television with a few channels. We had no close neighbors, so books were my primary source of entertainment—and oh, how I loved them! I also loved to tell my own stories—as a little girl, I used to walk my parents’ long driveway bouncing a ball and telling stories to myself. So eventually, it was a natural thing to start writing them down. In 2015 I entered a Love Inspired contest called Blurb to Book, and I ended up going through to the final round and selling my first book to Love Inspired! It was truly a dream come true.
Tell us what a writing day looks like for you.
I get up around five a.m. and have a quiet time of prayer and Bible study on my front porch (weather permitting) with a cup of coffee. Then I start work on whatever project I’m most behind on. 😊 Nowadays I’m normally working on more than one book at a time, so I usually write new words in the morning and edit a different book later in the day. I also frequently do writing sprints on Zoom with my critique partner, author Amy Grochowski. On an average day, I write from about 6 to 11:30, then break for lunch and homeschool time with my kids. They are in high school now, and do a lot of their work on the computer, so their lessons are not as mom-intensive as when they were younger. I usually am back at work in my writing room by around 3:00 and I write until it’s time to fix supper. If I’m really in a pinch, I’ll sometimes come back in later in the evening, but I do try not to do that unless it’s truly necessary.
How do you get ideas for your books. Ideas—or what I call “story seeds”—come to me at the oddest times! I’ll jot them down on a slip of paper and tuck them into a file folder I keep in my office. When I’m ready to start a new book—if I don’t already have an idea in mind, I’ll rummage through that folder. It never fails to spark my imagination!
Often those ideas center around a character—I do love my story people! In Lost and Found Faith, I thought—what if a hard-to-reach foster child bonded, not with his loving foster mom, but with the least likely person in the world—a man who’d not only locked his heart, but who’d thrown away the key? Children (like animals) seem able to connect with thorny folks when nobody else can. I thought that would be an interesting and heart-tugging story—watching a troubled child lead a heartbroken man back to his faith—and into the kind of joy he never expected to experience again.
5. Does prayer play a part in your book planning and writing? Yes—absolutely. In fact, whenever I find that a book isn’t “working” I know I have neglected that part of the process, and I back up and spend some time praying and asking for guidance.
6. What do you want readers to take away from this book?
What a great question! I hope that they will take away the idea that God can reach us in our darkest places—that we may turn our backs on Him, but that He never turns His back on us. I hope they will smile to see a brilliant scholar’s heart stirred by a preschool Vacation Bible School Lesson—God has such a sense of humor sometimes. And I hope they will see the amazing impact that simple, unconditional love can have on a broken heart—how God can use unexpected people to love us back to health when our spirits are weary and hurt. Most of all I hope they close this book with a smile, feeling encouraged and uplifted.

‘His pain had settled in to stay, like a long spell of dreary winter weather.’
I discovered Laurel Blount’s writing last year and quickly read all the books she had written. I couldn’t wait for more to release. One thing I love about a book and for me, the most important part, is when an author is able to pull me in from the very start. Blount does just that. She understand human nature and knows exactly how to craft a character and make me feel like I am there and can see inside their heart. And she has a definite heart for God. It’s one thing to read a good book and quite another to have your faith uplifted during the reading. Well done!My thanks to the publisher and author for a copy of this book. I was not pressured to leave a positive review. The opinion here is entirely my own

‘I’m not a huge believer in coincidences where murder is concerned.’
Detective Cash Ryland’s brother is in prison for a crime Cash is sure he didn’t commit, but he needs cold case investigator Mae Vogel’s help to prove it. He mistreated her years ago, so he feels bad asking her and even worse if she discovers a secret he’s kept all his life. Mae is sure Cash is wrong about his brother, but then things begin to happen and both their lives are threatened. Someone is trying to keep this investigation from gaining momentum.
Patch has long been a favorite and is very adept at writing suspense, which is my favorite genre. She builds the action until the end, leaving the reader breathless with excitement. And she springs a huge surprise here. There were plenty of suspects, but I never once guessed the culprit! Totally blown away by the ending. Well done!

I love dogs and especially K-9 dogs. I also love books, especially the suspense genre. I also enjoy stories set in Alaska. So Jodie Bailey managed to tick all the boxes here! He does learn that Jasmine is in WITSEC, and it would appear someone is trying to kill her. Or him.
Jodie Bailey really knows her way around a good suspense novel. I never miss her books. She has crafted great characters and a really good plot with the perfect spiritual thread. All these combined make for a great read. Well done!

How far would you go to find the perfect husband? All the way back to the 1950s?
In a world full of happily-ever-after love, Meri Newberg feels like the last young woman on the planet to be single, at least in her Christian friend group. So when she’s handed a strange present at the latest wedding–a 1950s magazine article of “ways to get a husband”–she decides there’s nothing to lose by trying out its advice. After all, she can’t get any more single, can she?
Her brother’s roommate sees the whole thing as a great opportunity. Not to fall in love–Kai Kamaka has no interest in the effort a serious relationship takes. No, this is a career jump start. He talks Meri into letting him film every silly husband-catching attempt for a new online show. If it goes viral, his career as a cameraman will be made.
When Meri Me debuts, it’s an instant hit. People love watching her lasso men on street corners, drop handkerchiefs for unsuspecting potential beaus, and otherwise embarrass herself in pursuit of true love. But the longer this game goes on, the less sure Kai is that he wants Meri to snag anyone but him. The only problem is that he may not be the kind of husband material she’s looking for . . .
With droll comic timing, unbeatable chemistry, and a zany but relatable cast of characters, Angela Ruth Strong has created a heartfelt look at the reality of modern Christian dating that readers will both resonate with and fall for.
About Angela Ruth Strong Angela Ruth Strong sold her first Christian romance novel in 2009 then quit writing romance when her husband left her. Ten years later, God has shown her the true meaning of love, and there’s nothing else she’d rather write about. Her books have since earned TOP PICK in Romantic Times, been optioned for film, won the Cascade Award, and been Amazon best-sellers. She also writes non-fiction for SpiritLed Woman. To help aspiring authors, she started IDAhope Writers where she lives in Idaho, and she teaches as an expert online at WRITE THAT BOOK. Get to know her even better at http://www.angelaruthstrong.com.

‘God has a funny sense of humor. I’m not laughing, though. I’m disappointed.’
When Meri Newberg is given a silly list from the 1950s of how to catch a husband at her last single friend’s wedding, she feels so incredibly bummed. Everyone in her Christian friend circle is now married but her. Her brother’s roommate, aspiring filmmaker, Kai Kamaka, encourages her to allow him to film her trying to fulfill this silly list and says they’ll be a You Tube sensation. Meri reluctantly agrees, figuring what else can be worse than being single in her thirties. And after all, she just may find her true and life enduring soul mate.
From then on, hilarity ensues. I have long been a fan of Angela Ruth Strong, but she has well and truly done it with this one! This is Rom Com pure gold, folks! Strong has totally nailed this genre with the strokes of her talented pen. I laughed my way through the book, along with being totally entertained and the romance was terrific! I can truly and without reservation highly recommend this book. It is going to go right smack dab on my keeper shelf. Well done!

Slipping away from the island with the help of a loyal friend, headstrong Oakley makes it to a floating research lab. But with the FBI in pursuit and a smug scientist plotting to exploit her, she may find her newfound freedom is deadlier than the cage she fled.

Deception Island is the tense second book in the Jurassic Judgment science fiction series. If you like genetically modified reptiles, savvy survivalists, and undercurrents of attraction, then you’ll love Janice Boekhoff’s thrilling story.
About Janice Boekhoff Blessed with an insatiable curiosity and a low tolerance for boredom, award-winning author Janice Boekhoff (pronounced Beau-cough) has worked more than twenty jobs ranging from Loan Consultant (important, but mortgage paperwork makes her sleepy) to Landfill Environmentalist (literally her smelliest job) to Research Geologist (the job that gave her the best tan and the most adventures).
She began writing as a way to express all of the unique ideas colliding in her head. A Midwest native, she now writes from Eastern Iowa where she lives with her hubby, three basketball-loving kids, and one adorable Vizsla (that’s a dog in case you weren’t sure).

If you have not read book one in this series, Extinction Island, do so now. The premise of sending death row inmates to an island populated with dinosaurs is enough to draw anyone in. The first book was awesome and I was so excited to read book two. Well, I have and it was equally as amazing. Add to the prisoners and some bad to the bone dinosaurs, including Red Grizzly and Demon Dragon, then throw in some genetically altered people with incredibly odd powers, and all but the dinosaurs are running from someone or other, and you have an action packed, heart pounding tale that you won’t soon forget. Then there’s the cliffhanger making you nearly drool for book three. Janice Boekhoff knows her stuff, that I can tell you. Now I have to wait for the next one! Bravo!
