Review: ‘False Prophet’ (A Windy Ridge Legal Thriller, Book 4) by Rachel Dylan

About The Book

When an arsonist destroys Windy Ridge Community Church, Pastor Dan is shaken to the core. He calls on attorney Olivia Murray and her boyfriend Grant Baxter to help secure a place for worship services. Shockingly, the City of Windy Ridge denies the church’s application to use the civic center, and Olivia brings a lawsuit to protect the church’s constitutional rights.

During this already challenging time for the Windy Ridge community, an outside pastor decides to open a place of worship within the city limits. People begin flocking to the young charismatic preacher especially since Windy Ridge Community Church lost its building. Olivia worries that this new and radical approach to faith will lead people astray, but with each passing day, his popularity continues to grow.

When the police make a surprise arrest in the church arson, the battle lines are drawn across Windy Ridge. Alliances are shaken and relationships are tested like they’ve never been before. The forces of darkness are working overtime to shake the faith of the believers. Can Olivia and Grant stand up for their faith and prevail in the battle of good versus evil?

My Rating: 4 Stars!

‘The forces of darkness in this town are strong and mighty, but our God is even stronger.’

I have been enjoying this series so much! Spiritual warfare is so real and Rachel Dylan’s books in this series portrays it very well indeed. I was captivated by the first book and continue to be so. As the small town of Windy Ridge faces yet another problem after the church is burned down, a very charismatic preacher comes to town and starts a new church, where he teaches not all paths are the same. Dan, Olivia and Grant know there is something wrong and pray hard and move in the Spirit to find out. Then they are faced with a foe they thought had left town. These three soldiers of Christ must do battle in the Spirit to defeat these foes. Dylan leaves the door open here for another book/books and that makes me very glad indeed.

Review: ‘A Cross Country Christmas’ by Courtney Walsh

About The Book

Lauren Richmond isn’t a fan of Christmas.

Which is why she rarely makes the trip home to the Midwest for the holidays. After all, she has plenty to keep her busy—namely, her duties as a set decorator on a TV sitcom.

But this December, Lauren‘s brother and his wife are expecting a baby, so her brother arranges a ride home for her with his good friend, Will.

Unfortunately for Lauren, she’s been trying to forget college baseball coach and childhood crush Will Sinclair for more than ten years.

Now, thanks to her fear of flying, she’s stuck in a car with him from California to Illinois.

She’s circumspect and organized. He’s flirty and spontaneous.

She’s convinced that people don’t change. He’s trying to prove to her (and himself) that he has.

On this cross-country road trip, they’ll both discover that history doesn’t exactly repeat itself. . . but like any good Christmas carol, it does have a second verse.

My Rating: 5 Stars!

Oh, please let me give this book more than 5 stars! It just ticks all the boxes for a lovely, emotional, and heart fulfilling Christmas tale. I loved every single minute. Just every word. I was caught up from the beginning, and I love when that happens. Walsh has outdone herself with this one, folks. I burst into tears at one point and my poor husband was mystified at my crying. Soon those tears that were rolling down my cheeks were dripping onto my shirt. This one is most precious. So many heart-filling moments, and this one is one you will not soon forget. Destined for a reread every Christmas. If not sooner! Well done!

5 Stars!

‘She’d gotten this far by trusting the Almighty. She’d travel the rest of the way doing the exact same thing.’

Ruth Logan Herne takes us back to the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee in this second book of her Kendrick Creek series. And what an absolutely wonderful story it was! I’ve always said that Herne writes with heart and I feel that way about each of her books. It’s just such a unique thing about her work. I really can’t adequately explain it. I just ‘feel’ it. And this one profoundly affected me. I felt it down deep–the situations, the plot, the characters. As soon as I started reading, this book wrapped itself around my heart completely. It felt soooo good. I finished in just hours, could not tear myself away. Well done indeed!

5 Stars!

‘Was God hugging her? Why would He want to? She’d let Him down.’

I am a huge fan of this author. All her books sit on my shelves, many of them read more than once. She is great at suspense and sometimes has a great dry wit. The idioms situation in this book was so funny. This book reads like Patch put her heart into it. There was so much to love. My favorite genre is suspense and this one ticks all the boxes. Great characters, really good plot, plenty of suspects, loads of danger. I was in from the very first page. I love it when that happens. Purely love it.

Here we have two flawed people, both living under self-imposed guilt from situations in their past. Situations that were truly not their fault, but that’s how minds work. Will they put down the heavy burden of guilt they’ve carried so long and allow God to lift it from their backs? Because that’s what we all tend to do, isn’t it? Not drop something when Christ has freed us from it?

Patch’s hero here, Rhett, is her best since Wilder Flynn in an earlier book. Well, they are kinda tied for greatest hero in my book. (Pun intended) The connection between Rhett and Poppy was nearly tangible. And I don’t mean just a romantic connection. There is a soul deep connection here and it is very well done.

Seriously this book truly did it for me. I loved it so much. There is super great suspense, a wonderful plot that I did not figure out at all, and a surprise element thrown in that caused me many smiles. Patch is at her best here. Well done!
