About Mandy Boerma
When Mandy Boerma isn’t hanging out at her favorite coffee shop writing, she’s a busy mom. After meeting Prince Charming, they started their own version of Happily Ever in the Florida Panhandle. Nothing compares to life at the beach. While those early days included romantic sunset walks with sand between our toes, days are now filled with sandcastles, swimming and school. Mom-duties fill Mandy’s days. You know them all— cooking, cleaning, chauffeuring, organizing, helping at school, all the lessons and practices, homework, etc. And because that’s not enough, she also teaches piano, normally with coffee in hand.

My Rating: 4 Stars!
‘The Lord and I aren’t exactly on speaking terms.’

I loved the town of Hearts Bend, Tennessee when Rachel Hauck first invented it. It is one of those little places you want to visit and perhaps live in, even though you can’t cause it’s fictional. Hauck has teamed up with Mandy Boerma to take us back to this delightful place for another visit.

Ben Carter’s grandparents ran the old inn in Hearts Bend and now both have passed on, and Ben must make a decision about the inn. Should he stay on and try to run it, even though it’s in great need of improvements, or sell it and return to his high powered job out of the country? And there’s Cami, who spent summers at the inn with her mother, but hasn’t returned in fifteen years, and who had her first kiss from Ben Carter.

Lots of decisions must be made here by both these folks. And they are torn as to what those decisions will be. But both are trying to lean on the Lord for the wisdom to make the right decision. Can they do it?

Come on back to this delightful town and meet old friends, have your heart touched great by being here. You won’t regret it.

‘I Will Find You’ (The Epic Story of RJ and York, Book 2) by Susan May Warren

About The Book
He released a sound, deep inside, part growl, part acquiescence. “Ruby Jane. You are going to be the death of me.”
“No. Not anymore. I’ve learned my lesson.”
He cocked his head.
Maybe because yes, she’d said that before, but this time — “I never again want to look out into the dark sky and wonder where you are, and if you’re alive. Never want to be more than a phone call away from you. Never want to think that you might…might think that I don’t love you.”
He blinked. Then, finally, finally, he smiled. And it was sunshine, right to her soul.
“Do you…do you still have my ring?”
He nodded and reached into the front pocket of his jeans.
How it remained untarnished, she hadn’t a clue, but there it was, still gorgeous. A beautiful vintage two carat white gold solitaire, with tiny diamonds in the cradle.
“York —”
“Just put it on your finger and keep it there.”
“You’re so bossy.” But she held out her hand for him to put it on her finger.
“I should put a tracker in it.”
She looked at him. “No need. I’m not going anywhere.”
He smiled again, a softness in his eyes that made her want to weep. “Not without me, you’re not.”

The woman he loves has vanished…

When RJ Marshall said she’d be right back, York should have objected. No, he wasn’t going to let her run off to Berlin, even if it was to save a little girl.

Only problem—she’d told him this while he was unconscious. So really, it doesn’t count, and it’s not his fault that she’s gone missing. And, he didn’t know why he expected RJ not to chase danger into trouble. But now he has to find her before criminal mastermind Alan Martin tracks her down.

She’s in over her head…

RJ didn’t mean to leave York behind, but she’s on a mission to save a little girl caught in the crossfire of Martin’s terrorist plot. Now, she’ll have to find the girl and keep her safe while leaving clues for York to follow her.

But who will catch up to her first—York, or the man with a vendetta?

The gripping romantic adventure continues across Europe in this second installment of the Epic Story of RJ and York!

Continue the adventure!

My Rating: 5 Stars!
‘You don’t have to have special skills to be a hero. You just have to do what’s right, despite the cost.’

Wow!!! I could put dozens of exclamation points behind that word. This books is that good. Seriously. If you’ve not read any of Susan May Warren’s books, you do not know what you are missing. This series plays off her Montana Marshalls series, particularly the story of Ruby Jane. Ruby Jane, RJ, to everyone, and her wonderful fella, York, have gotten their own series here and it is outstanding!

Warren has created a powerful story for these two, who will just absolutely worm their way right down deep in your heart. Their love is epic, just as the secondary title says. But they also attract danger like a magnet. RJ in particular attracts danger. Wait. She kinda, sorta runs towards it. And then York has to rescue her. And let me tell you, that the danger here will keep you on the edge of your seat with your heart jerking out of your chest.

There is so much to love here. I read it in one day, could barely tear myself away to make supper for my husband. I am a forever fan of Susan May Warren and with each book she writes, that solidifies even more. Well done!

‘Sometimes dying was the only way to give life.’

I just love Jody Hedlund’s medieval series. She has quite a few and I devour them the moment I get them. This fifth offering in her Knights of Brethren series is so good. The item the knights are seeing now is the Holy Light. And it’s quite a story. It would be too easy to give a spoiler, so I won’t say too much, but it certainly captivated me. I can’t wait for the last in the series! So exciting!

‘Forged in Steele’ (Steele Guardians) by Susan Sleeman

About The Book
When a baby goes missing…
The ink was barely dry on the contract Bristol Steele had signed for Steele Guardians to provide security for a metro hospital when a baby is abducted from the birthing center. Horrified and devastated for the family, Bristol puts everything in her life aside to find the abducted child and return the baby to her devastated parents. But when FBI Agent Jared Wolfe steps in and tries to shut down her efforts, Bristol isn’t prepared for the emotions that resurface from their long-ago summer romance.
She’ll risk everything, even her life.
Bristol can’t back down and soon finds herself working alongside Jared. She struggles to make sure her growing feelings for him aren’t a distraction, but as she tugs at Jared’s heart and he makes his feelings clear, she’s not sure she’s succeeding. Maybe she does need to back off for the good of the missing baby, but that might leave her company’s reputation in the dirt and proving her abilities to her father has always been her driving force.

‘He didn’t want to go through losing a child due to leaked information. Never again.’

Once again, Susan Sleeman has proven that she is tops in the genre of Christian suspense. Her characters are always well crafted, her plots fascinating, and her execution of the written word flawless.

This time, Bristol Steele and her family of former law enforcement officers are after someone who has brazenly stolen a baby right out of a hospital room. Bristol must work with FBI agent Jared Wolfe, who still holds her heart after a many years ago ghosting of her.

Sleeman adds layer upon layer to a story that is already action-packed and we are completely entertained throughout. Well done!

‘Out Of The Night’ (The Epic Story of RJ and York, Book 1) by Susan May Warren

About The Book
See, this was why York should put a GPS tracker on the woman he loved.
Not that he would, but if he did, then he wouldn’t show up in a town and see said woman trying to do a Spiderman along the face of a building.
And, if York hadn’t simply followed his instincts and taken off across the street she would have left an ugly splat on the sidewalk, probably taking out a planter of geraniums.
As it were—“Gotcha.”
He wasn’t trying to be cute—it was more of a statement of relief, even fury, the spill over of watching her dangle, then slip off the balcony. The fear he wouldn’t reach her in time.
For a second, she just stared at him, also breathing hard, those blue eyes blinking in disbelief. Then, “York?”
“It’s not Superman.”
Then she threw her arms around him, holding so tight she might cut off his breathing. “You’re here.”
“I’m here.” She could probably feel his heart pounding, trying to leave his body.
“How did you find me?”

A steal-your-breath, fast-paced adventure from a master! Be prepared to have your heart warmed and ripped out at the same time! Warren’s skilled craftsmanship pits an indefatigable RJ and rugged York against daunting enemies in this nonstop action and heart-pounding extension of the Montana Marshalls that we all love. Feed your kids, walk your dog, and grab a drink because once you dive in, there’s no escaping! ~Ronie Kendig, bestselling and award-winning author

“The best parts of an action movie mixed with the best kind of romance. My heart is still pounding. You don’t want to miss this series!” ~Lisa Phillips, USA Today bestselling author

He’s not looking for trouble…

All former spy and current national security agent York Newhouse wants is to propose to the woman he loves, RJ Marshall. Then they can move to Shelly, Washington, and start the calm, safe life he’s been dreaming of for over a year.

Too bad trouble doesn’t agree…

Or maybe RJ simply attracts trouble because she’s just going out for coffee when she spots a wanted, known terrorist standing in the middle of a street in Paris. At least she thinks it’s international criminal Alan Martin, the mastermind behind a plot to kill the president.

But he’s in jail, right?

Wrong. Martin has escaped, and it’s up to RJ—and York—to keep him in their sights until he can be apprehended. But chasing down Martin means following him into the darkness of whatever plot he’s cooked up now.

Will he ever outrun trouble to find his happy ending?

So much for York’s epic proposal. Now, he just wants to escape Europe with their lives.

The romantic trilogy ignites in book of the Epic Story of RJ and York!

Continue the adventure!

‘It’s the way of evil. It is unrelenting. And the fight is always there. Our job is to just fight the battles we’re assigned to fight.’

When I heard that Susan May Warren had written a series with more adventures of RJ and York, I was so excited! I loved their story in her previous Montana Marshalls series. So much. Two characters that just leapt off the pages were RJ and York.

So York and RJ are in Paris and he has a ring in his pocket and intends to propose in the most romantic city in the world. He has dreams of them settling down in rural Montana. But wouldn’t you know it? Trouble just seems to follow RJ Marshall. She thinks she sees an international criminal in Paris, who was supposed to be in prison. And the adventure begins. And boy, does it ever begin. It’s a breath-holding, gasping, cringing, hoping they don’t die story. Every minute. I love these two. I want them to have a gorgeously happy ending. But can they? Tune in and find out. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

‘Living Water To Refresh Your Soul’ by Tracy L. Smoak

About The Book

“I really enjoyed this little devotional book. . . .
The spiritual lesson is valuable to the believer’s walk with Christ.”
~Susan Snodgrass, Christian book reviewer

God is in the details and can be found in even the smallest elements in nature. Just imagine. A flower as intricate as a marigold or a lake reflection of guardian trees—both as mysterious as their Creator. Yet God cares deeply for you, the only creation made in his image.

In this world of shifting sand, we need something beautiful to ground us in the present, and author Tracy L. Smoak brings tranquility with her pictorial devotional Living Water.

If you love nature, this book will refresh your soul. With thirty photographs of inspiring water scenes in Lake County, Florida, you’ll revel at the beauty of God’s design. The affirming Bible verses, prayers, and faith steps will calm and comfort you.

“Tracy L. Smoak, a talented wordsmith and photographer, created a refreshing devotional for those seeking a respite from the noise and chaos of this world. Her original pictures capture the beauty of God’s creations and bring joy to the weary soul.”
~Robin Revis Pyke, author of Your Identity in Christ: Who You Are and Whose You Are

As a licensed English instructor with a master’s in Education, my passion is connecting people with God, particularly when they face challenging times.
In addition to writing, my adventures include racing horses in orange groves, teaching men in a maximum-security prison, and sharing Bible stories inside a ger in Outer Mongolia.
I love flower gardening and eating chocolate. Please check out the blog devotions to comfort and challenge you with Bible passages relevant to what you need today.”
4 Stars!
I really enjoyed this little devotion book. Each devotion consists of a verse or two of scripture, a precious and most approproate prayer and a Faith Step.
This last one is a great way to keep the devotion fresh in your mind and help you accomplish the goal of the devotion. Then there is a beautiful photo that pertains to the devotion in some way.
This is not a deep and long devotion. Let me take back that ‘deep’ part. One sentence, one word of Scripture, can be deep spiritually. God can move mightily in just one word. This is not a long devotional. It can easily be done in a minute or two, not counting the time you will want to take to ponder it. And it is a good thing to ponder on this throughout the day. The spiritual lesson is a great one, too, and very valuable to the believer’s walk with Christ.
My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. The opinion here is entirely my own.

My Rating: 5 Stars!
‘She hoped God heard even the desperate cries of those who had almost forgotten how to pray.’

This book moved me so deeply, it’s hard to think of anything else for a while. Liz Johnson has written a powerful story here of love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness. When a character grabs me the way these did, I am so incredibly happy to be reading their story.

When Eli felt all hope was lost, God had a plan. He always has a plan. He never wants His children to suffer. Eli never once felt he could have a home again and be happy. But oh, how I loved his story. Same with Violet. She, too, had lost hope. Bound in the chains of desperation, feeling she’d never again experience joy, she found that God had other plans for her as well.

This one is expertly written and will impact your heart in so many ways. I cherished every minute. Well done!

‘Sold On Love’ by Kathleen Fuller

About The Book
She’s a high-fashion realtor; he’s a low-maintenance mechanic. What on earth could they have in common?

Dressed in designer labels and cruising around town in her red Mercedes, workaholic realtor Harper Wilson presents the picture of success in charming Maple Falls. But Harper’s carefully cultivated image is resting on a shaky foundation. With a sudden drought in sales, she’s starting to see her professional dreams—along with her posh lifestyle—slipping away.

Car trouble brings her to mechanic Rusty Jenkins, and their unlikely friendship is taken to the next level when the laid-back Rusty allows her to give him a makeover for a charity bachelor auction. Harper soon discovers that beneath the town mechanic’s wild beard and grease-stained clothing lies a true Southern gentleman—someone with a kind heart and dreams of his own. Their chemistry is undeniable, but as they get closer, past fears and relationships start to creep in, reminding them of just how much is at stake when carefully constructed facades fall apart.

Maybe their worlds aren’t so separate after all. And maybe covering up who you really are keeps you from discovering what was always meant to be.

About Kathleen Fuller
Best-selling author of Amish fiction. Also a wife, mother, crafter, coffee addict, football fan, and chocolate aficionado.

My Rating: 4 Stars
This was the first book I ever read by this author and I enjoyed it so much. Delightful storyline and Rusty Jenkins was an absolute perfect hero. The plot was good and I could connect with all aspects of the story.

It is part of a series and could be read as a stand alone, but I definitely felt as if I were missing a bit by not reading the first two. I would also have appreciated a bit more of a faith thread. All told, I was very happy I read it.

My thanks to Thomas Nelson Publishing for a copy of this book via the Net Galley platform. The opinion here is expressly my own.

‘The Bridge Between Us’ (Road to Refuge, 3) by Victoria Bylin

An Unexpected Reunion . . . A Second Chance at Love
Jesse Donovan is a changed man. Now a Christian and a successful building contractor, he’s dedicated to taking responsibility for his self-centered past. That includes welcoming the teenage boy he didn’t know he fathered. When the boy’s mother walks into Jesse’s office, their son has run away from home and is on a dangerous road, travelling with a friend who isn’t a friend at all.

Maeryn Scott once loved Jesse Donovan, only to be abandoned without even a goodbye. Her love for him died suddenly—or so she thought. Now, with her son in danger and determined to confront his father, Maeryn must face the conflicting needs of her son and her own heart. Who is Jesse now? Can she trust him? Falling in love again is the last thing Maeryn wants to do—especially with a man who will turn her world upside down.

“Jesse Donovan has messed up plenty of times. But now one mess up has come back big time. Maeryn Scott was there during that mistake and her son now wants to meet his dad–the one who doesn’t know he exists.

Victoria Bylin has crafted a wonderful story of how these people handle extremely difficult situations that crop up in their lives. There is a lot of emotion in this book and she handles it all very well. We don’t just see one character’s pain, but she fleshes out all of them with their hurts and anxieties and how they deal with these life-altering situations. Very moving and difficult to put down, this one is a must read. P.S. You’ll love the basement!
