About Jodie Bailey
Jodie Bailey is the USA Today Best-selling author of novels about freedom and the heroes who fight for it. Jodie is also a public speaker and teacher who packs her novels with the knowledge she’s gained as an Army wife.
Jodie Bailey grew up in Eastern North Carolina, where she developed a love for golden sand and the Atlantic Ocean. She started writing stories as soon as she learned how to put sentences together, and spent her childhood and teen years making her best friends’ dreams come true on paper.
In college, she met the love of her life—a soldier who rides a Harley and jumps out of airplanes for fun. This prompted a whole lot of moving from place to place, and she had no idea how much those moves would work their way into her stories. For ten years, she pursued her second love, teaching. Now a full-time writer, she still teaches part-time because the kids keep her young and, every once in awhile, she needs some time away from the imaginary characters.
Jodie currently lives in North Carolina with her husband, her daughter, and a very stubborn pup.

My Rating: 4 Stars!

‘She needed to take the quiet while she could get it. Danger was sure to make another charge.’

I’ve long enjoyed Jodie Bailey’s books, and this one was a super good one. Amnesia, moles, dark web, not sure who to trust, you name it, it has it all. I had a hard time putting it down for necessary life tasks. I’m a suspense lover and Bailey surely does give this reader some good suspense to get lost in. I can’t wait for her next book. Well done!

‘The Bookshop of Secrets’ by Mollie Rushmeyer

About The Book
A collection of lost books holds the clues to her family’s legacy…and her future.

Hope Sparrow has mastered the art of outrunning her tragic past, learning never to stay anywhere too long and never to allow anyone control over her life again. Coming to Wanishin Falls in search of her family’s history already feels too risky. But somewhere in the towering stacks of this dusty old bookshop are the books that hold Hope’s last ties to her late mother—and to a rumored family treasure that could help her start over.

Only, the bookshop is in shambles, and the elderly owner is in the beginning stages of dementia and can’t remember where the books lie. To find the last links to the loved ones she’s lost, Hope must stay and accept help from the townsfolk to locate the treasured volumes. Each secret she uncovers brings her closer to understanding where she came from. But the longer she stays in the quaint town, the more people find their way into the cracks in her heart. And letting them in may be the greatest risk of all…

‘How, God? How can I possibly trust You?’

This debut novel from Mollie Rushmeyer is so stunning and precious. I was immediately drawn in, something that just makes me so happy when I’m reading a book. Everything about this book was good. The characters were well thought out, the plot was really good, and the writing very well done. I totally loved it. The main female character, Hope Sparrow, has been through such an ordeal, it hurt to read parts of it, especially when she was remembering the bad parts, but I loved how God began the healing process. The other characters were also incredibly well done. Totally a wonderful debut and I look forward to more from this author.

‘Oh, Lord, why have You sent this trouble my way? Are You trying to teach me something? If so, can we just get it over with and move on?’

I read my first book by Linda Goodnight a year ago and she very quickly became a favorite. Her well-written stories featuring very believable characters with real life problems, good plots and a strong spiritual thread make for a fantastic read. I absolutely love it when I connect with characters. And I always connect with Goodnight’s characters. Even the secondary ones. I am on a mission to read her entire back list. It’s a pretty long one, too, but I’m making good headway. I can very highly recommend this author.

‘Circle of Vengeance’ (A Star Cavanaugh Cold Case) by Ramona Richards

About The Book
Revenge is best served cold–and this family has been waiting decades to dish it up
Twenty-five years ago, a body was discovered in the Turney family barn–and folks around town were all too ready to believe that killing blood ran through all the Turney’s veins. Every member of the family came under suspicion, their reputations crumbled to pieces, and with no convictions, no one could be cleared.

Daughter Jill, now a Chicago lawyer, is ready for this case to be solved and for her broken family to be repaired at last. Who better to find the answers than cold-case P.I. Star Cavanaugh? But as Star begins to dig into generations-old secrets, the killer resurfaces to make sure none of those skeletons leave the closet–no matter what the cost.

As the danger mounts, Star again joins forces with police chief, Mike Luinetti, and begins to uncover truths that the whole town has kept hidden. But becoming the target of the determined killer isn’t the way Star wants to find the answers. It’s a race to solve the case before it becomes a matter of her life or death.

Readers will love jumping back into the Star Cavanaugh Cold Case series as their favorite plucky heroine drives her vintage Airstream home straight into the heart of another town’s mystery.

‘God sometimes drops you into some odd places. You may not understand at the time, but he does not make mistakes.’

When I read Burying Daisy Doe, I knew I wanted to read more by Ramona Richards. Her Star Cavanaugh cold case stories are incredibly fascinating to this suspense lover. They start out with a little info and Richards slowly begins adding layers, a bit at a time ramping up the reader’s excitement until you are completely hooked. Actually, you’re hooked from the beginning.

Richards is a fine hand at these split time stories and she always brings them to a most satisfying close. I racked my brain trying to figure it all out and never did. Well, I did figure out one tiny part, which was revealed quite soon, but the ending took me completely by surprise. And I love the relationship between Michael and Star. I sure hope the author does more in this series. Well done!

The voices of the past cannot stay silent forever.

In 1910 Michigan, Perliett Van Hilton is a self-proclaimed rural healer, leaving the local doctor convinced she practices quackery. In the present day, Molly Wasziak’s life has not gone the way she dreamed. Facing depression after several miscarriages, Molly is adapting to her husband’s purchase of a peculiar old farm. A search for a family tree pulls Molly deep into a century-old murder case and a web of deception, all made more mysterious by the disturbing shadows and sounds inside the farmhouse.

‘The dead don’t speak. They don’t talk. They don’t interact with the living.’

I sometimes wonder how the mind of Jaime Jo Wright works. Her stories are just so entrancing. She does them in split time form and each time period is incredibly captivating. It’s hard to tear yourself away for necessary tasks. You just cannot wait to see what is going to happen next in each time period, because they are linked. I was so totally caught up in this story and never suspected the things that wrapped it up. So well done!

I love this series. Jody Hedlund brings us the McQuaid family and here we are with Ivy’s story. Ivy, who is rambunctious and always getting in trouble. And enter Jericho Bliss, back again after a two year absence. Jericho, who has loved Ivy for years. And she loves him. But they’ve never admitted it to each other. Now Jericho is a Pinkerton agent searching for a desperate criminal and is determined not to letting Ivy close to his heart. Good luck with that.

Hedlund is a dab hand at a cowboy story. She switches genres effortlessly and I love every one she does. This series has been great and there is yet one to come. I can’t wait for it! I loved the spiritual thread here. Well done!

‘Where The Blue Sky Begins’ by Katie Powner

About The Book
“Katie Powner’s engaging story will pull you in and leave you in wonder at that deep, blue sky.”–CHRIS FABRY, author and radio host

Sometimes the hardest road of all is the road home.

When confident and handsome Eric Larson is sent to a rural Montana town to work in the local branch of his uncle’s financial company, he’s determined to exceed everyone’s expectations, earn a promotion, and be back in Seattle by the end of summer. Yet nothing could prepare him for the lessons this small town has in store.

At forty-six years old, eccentric and outspoken Eunice Parker has come to accept her terminal illness and has given herself one final goal: seek forgiveness from everyone on her bucket list before her time runs out. But it will take more courage than she can muster on her own.

After an accident pushes Eric and Eunice together, the unlikely pair is forced to spend more time with each other than either would like, which challenges their deepest prejudices and beliefs. As summer draws to a close, neither Eric nor Eunice is where they thought they would be, but they both wrestle with the same important question: What matters most when the end is near?

About Katie Powner
Katie Powner is an award-winning author who lives in Montana, where cows still outnumber people. She writes contemporary fiction about redemption, relationships, and finding the dirt road home. My Rating: 4 Stars!
‘God? I’m scared.’

This was my first time reading a Katie Powner book and it was very moving. When Eric Larsen is sent to a very, very small town by his uncle to handle some things in one branch of the family business, he is horrified to find a town that the GPS can’t even find. A town so small that there is not a decent cup of coffee to be had, and no health food. His next door neighbor is a seemingly curmudgeon of a woman who pounces on him and demands that he drive her to places so she can hopefully make things right with people she’s offended. Eric is counting the days until his time is over in this place and he can leave. But what Eric doesn’t understand is that he is about to embark on one of the most meaningful journeys of his life. A journey he didn’t even expect in his wildest imaginations, but one that will change his entire life.

Powner brings together the folks of this town in such a way that it impacts the reader’s heart fully. Sometimes we learn most when we think we are in a hard place. Her way of crafting these characters and their lives resounded within me so much. The character of Eunice is one I won’t soon forget. And the ending is such a sweet surprise. Very moving and well written, this is one for the keeper shelf.
