Folks, I am so very happy to have Sharee Stover as my guest today on my blog. Sharee has agreed to answer a few questions for us. I am also going to give away a digital copy of her book, so don’t forget to scroll down to see how you can win a copy.
Hello Sharee! I am delighted to have you today and it’s so kind of you to take the time to join us and answer a few questions. I am a huge fan of suspense and your books are just right up my alley.
How did your writing journey begin?
I’ve always loved writing and as a kid, my favorite “toy” was an antique typewriter. It wasn’t until my youngest daughter was born that I discovered the desire to write stories. I first thought I’d focus on devotionals, but the journey took me a whole different direction and a decade later, I’m writing romantic suspense and loving every minute of it.
What does a writing day look like for you?
I am a creature of habit, so every day starts with an early morning workout with my husband and our German Shepherd. Coffee and time with Jesus are a must before I settle into my office. On days where I’m writing a new story, I start from notes I made the day before. If I’m plotting, I may start out reading research materials or brainstorming with my critique partners.
Do you have a certain area dedicated for your writing?
I do! I have a basement office without windows which is a positive and a negative. I’m easily distracted so not having windows helps me stay focused, but I do miss watching the birds and rabbits in the yard. However, I can close the door and pretend the laundry isn’t taunting me, too. So that’s helpful.
4. How big a part does prayer play in your writing?
Praying is a non-negotiable absolute MUST HAVE. I pray before I start writing in the morning and throughout the day. I cannot be creative without the Lord.
How do you come up with ideas for books?
Ideas come from all over the place. Sometimes it’s a true crime TV show, or an article…books, magazines, sometimes even just a location or building will spark an idea. Usually, it happens when I least expect it to.
Do you read the same genre you write?
I have always been an avid reader. I do read a lot of romantic suspense, but crime fiction is my favorite genre. I also enjoy historical and woman’s fiction.
7. I loved the dog Magnum in this story so much! I know you have a dog, too. Tell us about him and if possible, give us a picture of him.
Magnum was a blast to write, and I had to remind myself he isn’t real. He’s so fun! Our dog did inspire Magnum’s characteristics.
I could talk for hours about my sweet boy, Niko. He’s an eight year old full bred German Shepherd who is a huge part of our family—no pun intended at 100 lbs.—with an equally large personality. He is brilliantly smart, so training him was almost too easy. He never counter-surfs, doesn’t get into the trash, and has never chewed up anything in the house. He’s super laid back and easy going except for his daily walks. So regardless of the weather, my husband and I are out in the elements to walk Niko. If I’m late getting out of bed in the morning, he lovingly slams against the side of the bed and sticks a cold nose in my face to wake me.
He kind of thinks he owns the neighborhood too.
On the rare occasions when we can’t walk, he shows his frustration by throwing himself down in a temper tantrum and gives an exasperated sigh like the character Lilo in Disney’s Lilo and Stitch. It cracks me up.
He loves his rubber ball but refuses to give it back when you throw it. When we take our walks, he carries the ball like a giant pacifier. And a secret about Niko…he’s afraid of the dark. Shhh, don’t tell him I told you, he’d be so embarrassed. He will not go outside after the sun has gone down unless we accompany him with a flashlight to do his business. And Niko gives the best hugs. He is a great listener too and I spend most of my day talking to him about everything from life to story ideas.
8. I know your husband is in law enforcement. First of all, bravo to him! I pray for law enforcement daily. Do you use him to help you, such as answering questions about law enforcement? (If this is an okay question.)
Thank you for praying for law enforcement!! From our family I assure you those prayers are very appreciated. My husband is my real-life-hero both in the public life of his job and in our family. He always reads my books before I send them to my editor and he’s a wonderful resource, always willing to shoot holes in my plots to make the story stronger. He walks through my danger scenes to make sure they’re accurate. And his favorite response to any question I ask is, “it depends” which makes me crazy. LOL. He is my most valuable resources as a subject matter expert and prays through my books with me. And when it’s deadline time, he willingly takes over house duties to give me time to write. I could never have embraced the dream to write without his love and support.9. What do you want readers to take away from this book?
9. What do you hope readers take away from this book?
I think books speak differently to readers, but I hope the biggest take away is that God’s love is immeasurable and unending. And God’s forgiveness is irrevocable. Justine’s painful past makes it hard for her to believe she can be loved, and Trey’s sense of duty and responsibility interfere with the reminder that God has a plan for each person. We can absolutely trust God with our past, present and future.
So, I loved ‘meeting’ Niko here. We had a German Shepherd Dog named Samson many years ago and they are the best breed! Sharee has agreed to share a photo of Niko. I love him!
5 Stars!
‘Would working Kayla’s case expose everything Justine had spent her adult life escaping?’
I only recently discovered this author’s work and I am now a huge fan. She certainly knows how to hit the ground running with the suspense and continue to ratchet it up throughout the book. Reading this one, I just kept casting about in my mind trying to figure out who the culprit was. That, dear reader, is the mark of a good suspense author. You can’t figure it out until they decide to let you figure it out.
‘Three days to solve a ten-year-old murder. Next they’d want him to explain the Bermuda Triangle.’
Stover populates this book with great characters, the two main ones especially great. We do see a few old friends from an earlier book, which was so nice. Even the bad guys are really good bad guys. Now good, mind you, but good bad guy characters. And the dog Magnum was a definite hero in this story. I loved him! Well done!

About the series: While most stories set in Regency England focus on the rich, the young, and the beautiful, award-winning author Carolyn Miller decided she wanted to give readers something different for a change. Her new Regency Wallflowers series follows the commoners, away from the hustle and bustle of 1810s London, out in the Lake District of England. She tells the stories of women who are slightly older and have few prospects for marriage, women who might be considered “wallflowers.” About the book: How can a meek wallflower help a returning war hero whose dreams are plunged into darkness? Mary Bloomfield has no illusions. Her chances for matrimony have long since passed her by. Still, her circumstances are pleasant enough, especially now that she has found purpose in assisting her father with his medical practice in England’s beautiful Lake District. Even without love, it’s a peaceful life. That is until Adam Edgerton returns to the sleepy district. This decorated war hero did not arrive home to acclaim and rest, but to a new battle against the repercussions of an insidious disease. Mary’s caring nature cannot stand to see someone suffer–but how can she help this man see any brightness in his future when he’s plunged into melancholic darkness, his dreams laid waste by his condition? Adam wants no charity, but he’s also no coward. If this gentle woman can work hard, how can he do less? Together they struggle to find a way forward for him. Frustration and antipathy slowly develop into friendship and esteem. Then a summer storm atop a mountain peak leads to scandal–and both Mary and Adam must search the depths of their closed hearts for answers if they hope to find any future path with happiness at its end. Best-selling author Carolyn Miller is back with a fresh series that will not only thrill readers eager for more of her work, but bring in new fans looking for beautiful writing, fascinating research, deftly woven love stories, and real faith lived out in the Regency period.
Carolyn Miller is an inspirational romance author who lives in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia, with her husband and four children.
A longtime lover of romance, especially that of Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer’s Regency era, Carolyn holds a BA in English literature and loves drawing readers into fictional worlds that show the truth of God’s grace in our lives. She enjoys music, films, gardens, art, travel, and food.
Miller’s novels have won a number of RWA and ACFW contests. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Australasian Christian Writers.
Carolyn Miller begins a new series with Dusk’s Darkest Shores, and if this book is any indication, the series will be wonderful.
Mary Bloomfield is twenty nine in 1811 England, and considered a spinster in that era. She has resigned herself to that fate and is content with her life, helping her physician father with caring for those in the village. When wounded war hero Adam Edgerton, with whom her older brother was friends, returns home from the war, he is depressed to be confronted with his disease. Mary resolves to offer support and care to Adam as best she can, for that is her nature. After all, his dreams have been dashed and she wants to show God’s love to everyone she comes in contact with.
‘Why had God allowed this to happen? He could have intervened at the last and performed a miracle to demonstrate His awesome power. Yet He hadn’t. It was as if He didn’t care. That did not acord with what she knew of God.’
As Miller takes the reader along on this most precious journey, we are an audience to Adam and Mary’s hearts being opened to a life neither of them had ever dreamed of. Her description of t he heart’s struggle with pain, real life issues and the sovereignty of God are so accurately portrayed and stunningly poignant. One word comes to mind about this novel: exquisite. For it is indeed exquisite. This is one for the keeper shelf, folks, and one I’m happy to have there. Well done! I loved it so very much.

Their love survived his accident, but can it survive the long, hard road to recovery?
Tyler Murphy had his life all planned out: finish college, go back to Sugar Pine as his dad’s able-bodied business partner, and most importantly, marry Rebecca Colson. But a fall from a roof leaves him less than able-bodied, and the pain he suffers as a result goes beyond the physical. Wrestling with his new disability seems manageable only by way of the pharmacy. Which is fine…until the refills run out and he’s denied a new prescription.
Rebecca Colson can’t wait for the day she’ll finally become Mrs. Rebecca Murphy. Tyler’s accident and resulting amputation are traumatic hurdles on the road to marital bliss but nothing they can’t overcome together—until Rebecca stumbles onto Tyler’s secret and approaches his family for help. Suddenly, the love of her life turns cold. In his eyes, her betrayal is unforgivable, and just like that, their hopes and dreams disintegrate.
Becca finds herself facing a future she doesn’t recognize—one where each step forward is a step away from the future she’d planned with Tyler. When a recovered Tyler finally seeks her out, he’s not sure he deserves another chance with her—not after the way he broke her heart. Becca is equally uncertain that Tyler has room in his new, very different life, for her. Is it too late to restore their relationship, or will their stubborn love forge a new path for a future together?
Stubborn Love is book 5 in the Murphy Brothers Stories; Christian novels full of romance and redemption. Don’t miss this family of seven brothers as they navigate through life, faith, and love.
Murphy Brothers Stories:
Always You In Spite of Ourselves Everything Behind Us This Life
About Jennifer Rodewald Jennifer Rodewald/J. Rodes lives on the wide plains somewhere near the middle of Nowhere. A coffee addict, pickleball enthusiast, and storyteller, she also wears the hats of mom, teacher, and friend. Mostly, she loves Jesus and wants to see others fall in love with Him too.
‘Their love might not be enough against the unidentified monster lurking in the shadows. The thought shook her to the core and made her want to weep.’
Jennifer Rodewald brings us the fifth novel in her Murphy Brothers series. I love this family. True to the core, every single one of them. But they have had to traverse some mighty difficult terrain in their lives. Here is Tyler’s story. Tyler had his life down to a tee: he’d finish college, go back home to work with his dad in Murphy Builds, their construction business. He’d marry Becca and they’d build a life together. Then a fall from a roof destroys his plans. He now struggles with a horrible disability as well as a pain medication addiction. Then his life spirals out of control in ways he never could have thought would happen.
‘Only God, Becca. Only God. Give this to Him. He is an expert at turning ugly into beautiful.’
Becca looked forward eagerly to the day she became Tyler Murphy’s wife. But she doesn’t even feel she knows him anymore. Becca makes a decision that she hopes will help Tyler, but it only drives her and him further away from each other. Now she is faced with making a life that she never wanted to happen.
Rodewald is incredibly adept at creating characters and stories that burrow down deep into the reader’s heart. These characters go through so much, and sometimes I find myself wishing I could pray for them! But God is a master at redemption and pulling healing through even the most desperate of situations. This series is incredibly deep and powerful and a testament to that redemption and grace that only comes from God. I am enjoying it so very much and I can highly recommend it. And there are two brothers left, so I get to enjoy even more. Sit back and watch Rodewald work and come away with a heart full.

‘Despite all the internal pep talks about how her past didn’t define her, her shame still owned her.’
Rachel Hauck takes us back to Hearts Bend, Tennessee and to the kingdom Lauchtenland in the North Sea in her second offering of her True Blue Royal series. And what a wonderful trip it is! I was enchanted. (pun intended)
This is Crown Prince John’s story and Gemma Stone’s story. Gemma, who carries her past like a giant pack on her back. Gemma runs a rescue ranch and is raising a foster teenager daughter. The world she has made for herself is safe. Until one day and she is paired in a three legged race with Prince John. Prince John knows heartbreak and cannot let go of grief, finds that Gemma Stone is a breath of air in his life. But is he just dreaming because of his pain?
‘No use denying it. God was up to something.’
There are many obstacles to these two having a happily ever after, but if anyone can give them that, it’s Rachel Hauck, who has long been a favorite of mine. Her books take up some serious real estate on my shelves. She always delves deep into the hearts of her characters and manages to transfer them to her readers’ hearts. That is a gift. And one thing I absolutely love about Hauck’s writing is this: she always manages to include a touch of the Divine in her books, something I look forward to and look for, then smile knowingly when it appears.
This story shows us that long held opinions of ourselves don’t have to be permanent. What we should be concerned with is God’s opinion of ourselves. This book ministered to a situation in my own life and I thank God so much for that. I am a princess to God! I loved every single minute. This book is a keeper shelf treasure and one that begs to be read again and again. Well done! I can highly recommend this one.
