Her scientist-mother was on the verge of a scientific breakthrough, and Kennedy knows her mother would never end her life, but the detective won’t listen. Kennedy moves back to her home town and commits to finding her mother’s killer and finishing her work.

And she must prove them wrong.

Kennedy digs deeper, garnering the killer’s focus, and he puts her in his cross-hairs. She can’t give up on such an important project, so she swallows down her unease over the tumultuous breakup with Erik Byrd in college and hires Nighthawk Security, not only to protect her, but to help find her mother’s killer. It takes only one look for both of them to know their feelings for each other haven’t gone away. With so many people counting on her to complete the project, giving in to old feelings is a distraction neither she or Erik can afford, and they both need to keep watch. Especially in the darkest hours of the night, when the killer comes out to play.

I Read With Audra Book Tour: Review and Three Giveaways: ‘Husband Auditions’ by Angela Ruth Strong

About The Book:

How far would you go to find the perfect husband? All the way back to the 1950s?

In a world full of happily-ever-after love, Meri Newberg feels like the last young woman on the planet to be single, at least in her Christian friend group. So when she’s handed a strange present at the latest wedding–a 1950s magazine article of “ways to get a husband”–she decides there’s nothing to lose by trying out its advice. After all, she can’t get any more single, can she?

Her brother’s roommate sees the whole thing as a great opportunity. Not to fall in love–Kai Kamaka has no interest in the effort a serious relationship takes. No, this is a career jump start. He talks Meri into letting him film every silly husband-catching attempt for a new online show. If it goes viral, his career as a cameraman will be made.

When Meri Me debuts, it’s an instant hit. People love watching her lasso men on street corners, drop handkerchiefs for unsuspecting potential beaus, and otherwise embarrass herself in pursuit of true love. But the longer this game goes on, the less sure Kai is that he wants Meri to snag anyone but him. The only problem is that he may not be the kind of husband material she’s looking for . . .

With droll comic timing, unbeatable chemistry, and a zany but relatable cast of characters, Angela Ruth Strong has created a heartfelt look at the reality of modern Christian dating that readers will both resonate with and fall for.

About Angela Ruth Strong
Angela Ruth Strong sold her first Christian romance novel in 2009 then quit writing romance when her husband left her. Ten years later, God has shown her the true meaning of love, and there’s nothing else she’d rather write about. Her books have since earned TOP PICK in Romantic Times, been optioned for film, won the Cascade Award, and been Amazon best-sellers. She also writes non-fiction for SpiritLed Woman. To help aspiring authors, she started IDAhope Writers where she lives in Idaho, and she teaches as an expert online at WRITE THAT BOOK. Get to know her even better at http://www.angelaruthstrong.com.
5 Stars!

‘God has a funny sense of humor. I’m not laughing, though. I’m disappointed.’

When Meri Newberg is given a silly list from the 1950s of how to catch a husband at her last single friend’s wedding, she feels so incredibly bummed. Everyone in her Christian friend circle is now married but her. Her brother’s roommate, aspiring filmmaker, Kai Kamaka, encourages her to allow him to film her trying to fulfill this silly list and says they’ll be a You Tube sensation. Meri reluctantly agrees, figuring what else can be worse than being single in her thirties. And after all, she just may find her true and life enduring soul mate.

From then on, hilarity ensues. I have long been a fan of Angela Ruth Strong, but she has well and truly done it with this one! This is Rom Com pure gold, folks! Strong has totally nailed this genre with the strokes of her talented pen. I laughed my way through the book, along with being totally entertained and the romance was terrific! I can truly and without reservation highly recommend this book. It is going to go right smack dab on my keeper shelf. Well done!

Review: ‘Deception Island’ (Jurassic Judgment) by Janice Boekhoff

About The Book

An island prison. Deadly dinosaur species. A daring escape.

Now it’s a race to find the truth before someone notices she’s gone …

Imprisoned on dinosaur-infested Costa Rica, Oakley Laveau is haunted by the desperate question of why her mother tried to kill her. When a dream hints at answers to her mysterious past, she’s determined to uncover the secrets of her manipulated DNA. Oakley boldly decides to flee and hunt down the truth at any price … even execution.

Slipping away from the island with the help of a loyal friend, headstrong Oakley makes it to a floating research lab. But with the FBI in pursuit and a smug scientist plotting to exploit her, she may find her newfound freedom is deadlier than the cage she fled.

Will Oakley’s determination to trace the clues of her past reveal a dangerous secret better left uncovered?

Deception Island is the tense second book in the Jurassic Judgment science fiction series. If you like genetically modified reptiles, savvy survivalists, and undercurrents of attraction, then you’ll love Janice Boekhoff’s thrilling story.

About Janice Boekhoff
Blessed with an insatiable curiosity and a low tolerance for boredom, award-winning author Janice Boekhoff (pronounced Beau-cough) has worked more than twenty jobs ranging from Loan Consultant (important, but mortgage paperwork makes her sleepy) to Landfill Environmentalist (literally her smelliest job) to Research Geologist (the job that gave her the best tan and the most adventures).

She began writing as a way to express all of the unique ideas colliding in her head. A Midwest native, she now writes from Eastern Iowa where she lives with her hubby, three basketball-loving kids, and one adorable Vizsla (that’s a dog in case you weren’t sure).
5 Stars!

If you have not read book one in this series, Extinction Island, do so now. The premise of sending death row inmates to an island populated with dinosaurs is enough to draw anyone in. The first book was awesome and I was so excited to read book two. Well, I have and it was equally as amazing. Add to the prisoners and some bad to the bone dinosaurs, including Red Grizzly and Demon Dragon, then throw in some genetically altered people with incredibly odd powers, and all but the dinosaurs are running from someone or other, and you have an action packed, heart pounding tale that you won’t soon forget. Then there’s the cliffhanger making you nearly drool for book three. Janice Boekhoff knows her stuff, that I can tell you. Now I have to wait for the next one! Bravo!

My thanks to the publisher and author for a copy of this book. I was not pressured to leave a positive review. The opinion here is entirely my own.

Review: ‘To Write A Wrong’ (The Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency 2) by Jen Turano

About The Book

Miss Daphne Beekman is a mystery writer by day, inquiry agent by night. Known for her ability to puzzle out plots, she prefers working behind the scenes for the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency, staying well away from danger. However, Daphne soon finds herself in the thick of an attempted murder case she’s determined to solve.

Mr. Herman Henderson is also a mystery writer, but unlike the dashing heroes he pens, he lives a quiet life, determined to avoid the fate of his adventurous parents, who perished on an expedition when he was a child. But when he experiences numerous attempts on his life, he seeks out the services of the eccentric Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency to uncover the culprit. All too soon, Herman finds himself stepping out of the safe haven of his world and into an adventure he never imagined.

As the list of suspects grows and sinister plots are directed Daphne’s way as well, Herman and Daphne must determine who they can trust and if they can risk the greatest adventure of all: love.

5 Stars!

‘Murderers, I’m sure you’ll agree, are very proficient with lying.’

Oh goodness, do I ever love a Jen Turano novel! Every time one is published, I can’t wait to read it. You know why? Because that means I’m about to have a grand experience. I don’t know how she does it. Really I don’t. Her mind must be an amazing thing. Her wit is incredibly wonderful and this time I was laughing by the second page. There are many times during the reading of her books that I just burst into loud laughter and laugh more than a second or two. My husband just stares at me, while I say, ‘I’m reading another Jen Turano book.’

Back we go to the Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency to have Miss Daphne Beekman’s story. Daphne is a writer, don’t you know, albeit one who must adopt a male nom de plume. She solves crimes in the evenings, too. Well, she meets up with another mystery writer in this story, a very famous one like herself, Mr. Herman Henderson. He wants to hire the agency because it would seem someone is trying to kill him. And we’re off! What a wonderful, rip-roaring time to be had here. I always find myself, during the reading of on of Turano’s books, rereading passages over and over just for the simple pleasure of laughing my head off. I adore her work!

Review: ‘Beyond The Tides’ by Liz Johnson

About The Book:

When Meg Whitaker’s father decides to sell the family’s lobster-fishing business to her high school nemesis, she sets out to prove she should inherit it instead. Though she’s never had any interest in running the small fleet–or even getting on a boat due to her persistent seasickness–she can’t stand to see Oliver Ross take over. Not when he ruined her dreams for a science scholarship and an Ivy League education ten years ago.

Oliver isn’t proud of what he did back then. Angry and broken by his father walking out on his family, he lashed out at Meg–an innocent bystander. But owning a respected fishing fleet on Prince Edward Island is the opportunity of a lifetime, and he’s not about to walk away just because Meg wants him to.

Meg’s father has the perfect solution: Oliver and Meg must work the business together, and at the end of the season, he’ll decide who gets it. Along the way, they may discover that their stories are more similar than they thought . . . and their dreams aren’t what they expected.

Bestselling author Liz Johnson invites you back to Prince Edward Island for a brand-new series about family, forgiveness, and the kind of love that heals all wounds.

My Rating: 5 Stars!

‘Winning over Meg Whitaker was his challenge. He didn’t need her to like him. He just needed her to stop hating him.’

Liz Johnson begins a new series with this book and if this book is any indication, it’s going to be a great series! Meg Whitaker’s mother is ill and her dad decides to sell his Prince Edward Island lobster fishing business license. To the one man she cannot abide. The man who hurt her more than any other. The man she has held a grudge against for over ten years.

‘Yeah, he knew a thing or two about shields and armor and how they didn’t work.’

Oliver Ross has worked for Meg’s dad on the fishing boat for many years and jumps at the chance to buy the license. Meg’s parents have always believed in Oliver. Oliver’s life has not been a pleasant one and he has hidden from others the pain he has endured. Now Meg doesn’t want him to have the fishing license. She wants it herself, even though she hates fishing and has motion sickness.

This is a very good book. With a great spiritual theme here about grudges. They hurt. Both the one holding the grudge and the one the grudge is held against. And they never end well. Never. I was hooked here from the first page and and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I’ve been a fan of Johnson’s a long time and each book solidifies my decision to be a fan. I loved Oliver’s character so much. I loved Meg’s, too, and her parents and other secondary characters, but Oliver’s heart was such a wonderful thing. Honestly, the guy is a great book hero. I recommend this one so much.

Review: ‘Who You Are’ (Murphy Brothers) by Jennifer Rodewald

About The Book

An unusual arrangement brought them together. Their clashing personalities are likely to drive them apart. Is it remotely possible that love could take them both by surprise?

Brandon Murphy is stuck. He works alone every day, out in the woods, exactly as he wanted. Trouble is, he hadn’t counted on it becoming so…mundane. So when he receives an unusual request—to show up as the arranged fiancé of an heiress in trouble—he figures he may as well. After all, they’ll have six months to decide whether to go through with the marriage. It might just be the spark his life’s been missing.

And oh, are there sparks! Just not the sort he was hoping for.

Megan Alexander is livid. Not only has her father driven away the fiancé of her choosing, but her mother has written to a complete stranger, asking him to come and fill that now-vacant role. What modern woman would consider such an arrangement? Determined not to comply with the insane deal, Megan comes up with a plan of her own: drive the crazy man who agreed to such an idea away—preferably at a run.

From their first disastrous meeting, both Brandon and Megan are certain they will never get married. Ever. But Megan’s plans for her future rely on Daddy’s goodwill, so she needs to see the six months through. And Brandon gave his promise on that time frame; he’ll be a man of his word—even if it kills him.

Six months and they can walk away. Because there’s no way they’d ever consider the alternative…is there?

Who You are is book 6 in the Murphy Brothers Stories; Christian novels full of romance and redemption. Don’t miss this family of seven brothers as they navigate through life, faith, and love.

‘Were these the lives they were supposed to be living? Did either trust the goodness of God? Were they seeking a life that would glorify their Maker?’

Here we have the next to last Murphy Brothers story. Brandon Murphy receives a strange request from his mom, who has received it from a long time friend. Dare he accept? Not likely. Not his thing. But he feels God leading him that very way. And so Jennifer Rodewald leads us along on another Murphy Brothers tale, every bit as rich and full as the ones that went before. This is an amazing family. From the very first brother, I’ve been all in. It’s a wonderful thing to watch as they all have submitted fully to the will of God for their lives. Oh, it’s not been a bit easy for any of them or those they loved, but it’s a beautiful thing to watch. Rodewald always takes us on a journey that no only makes for a sound and totally enjoyable and blessing-filled read, but touches our own hearts with its profound spiritual themes. Well done!

Review: ‘Provenance’ by Carla Laureano

About The Book

From two-time RITA Award–winning author Carla Laureano comes a story of romance, transformation, and the beauty of belonging.
Los Angeles interior designer and former foster kid Kendall Green is in high demand, both for her impeccable eye and for her uncanny ability to uncover the provenance of any piece. But for all her success, skyrocketing costs have put her California home and her business in jeopardy. Then an unexpected inheritance provides a timely solution: a grandmother she never knew has left her a group of historic properties in a tiny Colorado town on the edge of ruin.

To young, untried mayor Gabriel Brandt, Jasper Lake is more than another small town—it’s the place that saved his life. Now, seeing the town slowly wither and die, he’s desperate to restore it to its former glory. Unfortunately, his vision is at odds with a local developer who wants to see the town razed and rebuilt as a summer resort. He’s sure that he can enlist the granddaughter of one of its most prominent former citizens to his cause—until he meets Kendall and realizes that not only does she know nothing of her own history, she has no interest in reviving a place that once abandoned her.

In order to save his beloved town, Gabe must first help Kendall unravel the truth of her own provenance—and Kendall must learn that in order to embrace the future, sometimes you have to start with the past.

‘Sometimes no matter how hard you wished for something, you still came up short.’

I just this minute read the last word of this book. I really enjoy Carla Laureano’s wok and have reread several more than once. So I am always excited to see she has a new book coming out. She writes with a depth that I truly enjoy. She doesn’t just craft characters and throw them on a page. No, she delves into their lives and reveals their deepest emotions, their longings and heartbreaks.

‘If you didn’t let anyone in, you couldn’t be hurt by rejection. You couldn’t be disappointed. It was easier to be alone by your own choice than to have someone make that choice for you.’

The characters of Gabe and Kendall are incredibly well formed here and I very much was all in learning their back stories and what brought them to this point in their lives. This was a long story, but never felt forced or long. It moved deeply and the word I believe I’d use is ‘fulfilling’. It was heart-satisfying.

Laureano shows us that there are never any coincidences with God. He is there, waiting patiently, loving His creation. The spiritual thread of this story is so powerful-so much so that I found myself smiling numerous times at how the author played it out. And, even though this book has a very strong story line and wonderful characters, God is the true hero of this story. Psalm 139;16 is one verse that went through my mind during the reading. This one is a winner in every way. I felt so good reading it! Well done!
