My Rating: 5 Stars!
‘She was cold. She was scared. She was alone.’

This has been a wonderful series, this K-9 one. The entire series has been spent searching for one woman, Violet James, thought to be a participant in violent crimes. However, law enforcement now know her to be innocent, but she is running from her ex-fiancé, the one who is really guilty. Only now she has a newborn with her. So not only does she need to keep herself and her infant daughter safe from this vicious criminal, she must stay safe in the Alaskan wilderness with a huge winter storm on the horizon.

The best was definitely saved for the last! Shirlee McCoy brings it here and I loved every single minute. She has crafted a decidedly dastardly bad guy, totally without remorse and any sense of right and wrong. I couldn’t stand him! And Bear! This dog wormed his way into my heart. Of course, being a dog lover, he didn’t even have to try to do that, but he was a great character in this book. I highly recommend this one. Absolute perfection!

My Rating: 5 Stars!

I read my first Brenda Minton book about a year and a half ago, fell in love with her writing, and am on a mission to finish her entire back list, which is a lot. I’m doing very well, only a few left to go. And, of course, I never miss a new one by her.

This one is a stand out for me in several ways. Minton tells the story of a former foster child who has experienced a devastating event, returns home to Pleasant, Texas pregnant and convinced she will never be happy again. She takes a job as housekeeper for Tucker Church, who has what appears to be temporary custody of his teenage niece. He needs help and is not afraid to admit it. But maybe he is the one to be giving of help.

Poignantly told with a huge chunk of heart and full of emotions that had me clutching my own heart, this one is not to be missed. Well done!

With the kingdom under attack both from within and without, can Elinor and Maxim overcome the deceit spinning around them? Or will it destroy their love once and for all?

The real story of Excalibur.
About Jody Hedlund

Jody lives in central Michigan with her husband, five busy children, and five spoiled cats. Although Jody prefers to experience daring and dangerous adventures through her characters rather than in real life, she’s learned that a calm existence is simply not meant to be (at least in this phase of her life!).

My Rating: 5 Stars!
‘Any man who chooses deception to better himself will forfeit his greatest asset, his honor’

I have been looking forward with great anticipation for this series. I have read every single one of Jody Hedlund’s books and I love her medieval series’ so much!

Here Hedlund brings us a series featuring princesses, kings, queens, noble knights, sages, along with danger and deception. I loved following Elinor and Maxim through the pages of this book as they realized their love for each other and trust in God to guide them through the pitfalls that are before them as danger looms on nearly every front. I cannot WAIT for the second book!!

Review: ‘Right Here Waiting’ ( A Deep Haven Novel) by Susan May Warren and Michelle Sass Aleckson

About The Book
He lives in a world of winter.

Sled dog musher and outdoor adventurer Nick Dahlquist doesn’t mean to be a loner—he just feels at home in the woods, with his dogs, and also online in his vlogging world, where he’s amassed nearly a million viewers. But he’s just a simple guy, with simple goals—care for his dogs, teach people how to survive the cold, and run the Iditarod. Unfortunately, life turns cold when his lead dog is injured, and he’s low on funds. Good thing he has LadyJHawk to chat with. She’s become an online friend he can turn to, and he’s starting to need her more than he’d like to admit. But the last thing he wants is for some random woman to show up on his doorstep…

She doesn’t belong in his world.

Chopper pilot and Texas gal Jae Lynn Washington has been following Nick’s DogQuest videos and Get Lost in the Woods vlogs since she inherited her deceased boyfriend’s military working dog. Three years later, his encouragement and help as online chat buddies have made her wonder if he could be more than a friend. What if she moved to Deep Haven? Would that be considered stalking, even if she had a bonafide job on the Crisis Response Team?

But she’s determined to try…

When Jae shows up in Deep Haven—and on Nick’s doorstep—he’s not at all the man she met online. The last thing she’ll do is tell him she’s really LadyJHawk. And when Nick is tapped to train the Crisis Response Team, he’s pretty sure that petite, summer-loving Jae won’t last a moment in the brutal cold—a fear he pours out to LadyJHawk. As their training takes a personal turn, their chilly start begins to thaw. But is he ready to shake off his online relationship for the one in real life? And if Jae tells him the truth, will it spook him back into the woods?

When a blizzard strikes, and the CRT is called out into the storm, it might be too late…

Cozy up to this delightful, wintery twist on You’ve Got Mail set in the snowy escape of Deep Haven.

My Rating: 4 Stars!

‘I Thought isolation would bring healing, prevent more pain. I was wrong.’

I adore diving into a Deep Haven novel. There’s just something about it from the first page that makes me feel so good. This is one little fictional town I’d love to visit! Susan May Warren and Michelle Sass Aleckson are quite fine here. Great characters and a super good plot. I loved the interaction between Jae and Nick with their online back and forth. And seeing old friends is always just wonderful. I also very much enjoyed the dog sledding angle and the rescue operations. This is an exceptional series. Highly recommended.

Review: ‘Honor in the Mountain Refuge’ (Call of the Rockies series book 6) by Misty Beller

About The Book
This epic journey is his last chance to start a new life.
After being cast out of his Blackfoot village for his kindness to the Nez Perce captives, Chogan travels west in search of meaning for his life. Meaning that doesn’t require killing or torturing innocent people. Though the lovely face of Telípe, a Nez Perce woman, is imprinted on his heart, he avoids her village.  She deserves a happy life with her husband and coming child.
With her husband dead and the birth of her babe imminent, Telípe’s reality looks nothing like she planned. She’s been forced to return to the village where she grew up and the chaos of her family’s lodge—with all her boisterous younger brothers. She desperately desires to start a new life for herself and the babe growing within her, but she can’t seem to climb above the mire of her past. When she stumbles into the brave who’d shown her kindness during her captivity, something ignites within her—a new hope.
Chogan’s determination to stay and help Telípe is thwarted by her people’s fear and hatred for his tribe—especially since he was among last winter’s kidnappers. It doesn’t matter that he did everything he could to keep her and her unborn child safe and comfortable during that awful event. But as a new predator threatens the safety of the village, Chogan determines to take down the massive wildcat that’s already injured several children—including one of Telípe’s younger brothers. When the danger escalates, Chogan is faced with an impossible choice. No matter which option he chooses, his life will never be the same—nor that of the woman he’s come to love.
From a USA Today bestselling author comes another epic journey through breathless landscapes and adventure so intense, lives will never be the same.

5 Stars!

I absolutely love this series from Misty Beller! I have always loved history, even as a child, and especially enjoyed the stories of Native Americans, because one of my distant ancestors was Cherokee. This series is so satisfying to read and full of history and a very accurate portrayal of the ways of life of the Native Americans and the settlers who lived in peace with them.

Beller creates these stories so well and populates them with nearly real characters and deftly weaves the precious message of Christ into each one. I was captivated throughout. Well done!

By now you have probably discovered that there are two – or three – of me. Well, not really. I’m the Valerie Hansen who writes Christian Romance, Suspense and Historical fiction. This is my maiden name and much easier to spell and remember than my married name.

I’ve been published since the 1980s and have over 70 books to my credit, most of which were written as Valerie Hansen. You can visit my website http://www.ValerieHansen.com to read excerpts and will find virtually all of my books still available through Amazon.com. MANY ARE ON KINDLE – INCLUDING TWO I HAVE REISSUED ON MY OWN! WAGES OF SIN is longer and grittier than my usual Love Inspired Historical titles. Good thing it’s on Kindle or you might have trouble holding up all the pages. 🙂 DANGEROUS DEVOTION is a romantic suspense in the style my readers are all so familiar with.

I’m thrilled that having my work on Kindle allows so many of my loyal readers to continue to find my books even after they’re out of print and, happily, my publisher has recently begun rereleasing previous titles, some in combination with other authors. You’ll get more than one book to enjoy in the shared cover!

I don’t have a blog right now but I am active on Facebook and participate as a guest on others such as CraftieLadiesofRomance.blogspot. Right now I’m working to complete a multiple book contract plus more K-9 series books which are always great fun.

This little offering is incredibly delightful. The author bases her insights and devotions on a stay on a friend’s farm in the NC mountains. I live not far from these mountains and, being a lover of mountains, this was very appealing to me. Some of the things she describes in this book, such as egg gathering, cow milking, I gave actually done! However, she takes it a step further and brings wonderful spiritual insights into the equation. This was simply precious to read and one I will go back to in the future.

Review: ‘Lights Out’ ( The SNAP Agency Book 1) by Natalie Walters

About The Book
CIA analyst Brynn Taylor developed a new program to combat terrorism, and she invited members of foreign intelligence agencies to America to foster cooperation between countries. Now one of them, Egyptian spy Remon Riad, is missing.

Jack Hudson has been working for the Strategic Neutralization and Protection Agency (SNAP) for almost nine years and takes the lead in hunting down the missing spy. But he isn’t at all pleased to find out Brynn is involved. It’s hard to trust a woman who’s already betrayed you.

Every lead they follow draws them dangerously deeper into an international plot. Kidnapping, murder, explosions, poisoning–the terrorists will do anything to accomplish their goal of causing a digital blackout that will blind a strategic US military communications center and throw the world into chaos.

Can Brynn surrender control to a man who doesn’t trust her? And can Jack ever get over what she did to him? The fate of the world–and their hearts–hangs in the balance.

About Natalie Walters
My world revolves around GIJOE and our three adult (or almost adult) children who keep my life anything but predictable. Our boots hit the ground wherever the Army sends us but home is when we’re all together no matter the zipcode. My passion is writing stories where adventure meets love and share my belief that life rooted in purpose is a story worth telling.
5 Stars!

‘Choose fear or choose faith, but only one choice will bring peace.’

When I read Natalie Walters’ first book, I was hooked on her writing. She has released three books prior to this one and they’ve all been really good. This time, Walters totally ups her game. Big time.

Fighting terrorism on an international level, Brynn Taylor, a CIA analyst, and Jack Hudson, from the SNAP agency, must race against time to prevent what will play out as a total catastrophe. Then there is the issue of trust, or non-trust, they have with each other. Can they set that aside and work together for the common good?

Pulse-pounding excitement and action-packed, this one is a definite for the keeper shelf. And the secondary characters are great! Well done!

Review: ‘Lost In Darkness’ by Michelle Griep

About The Book
Even if there be monsters, there is none so fierce as that which resides in man’s own heart.
Enchanting Regency-Era Gothic Romance Intertwined with Inspiration from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein

Travel writer Amelia Balfour’s dream of touring Egypt is halted when she receives news of a revolutionary new surgery for her grotesquely disfigured brother. This could change everything, and it does. . .in the worst possible way.

Surgeon Graham Lambert has suspicions about the doctor he’s gone into practice with, but he can’t stop him from operating on Amelia’s brother. Will he be too late to prevent the man’s death? Or to reveal his true feelings for Amelia before she sails to Cairo?

About Michelle Griep

I hear voices. Loud. Incessant. And very real. Which basically gives me two options: choke back massive amounts of Prozac or write fiction. I’ve been writing since I discovered blank wall space and Crayolas. I seek to glorify God in all that I write–except for that graffiti phase I went through as teenager.

My Rating: 5 Stars!

‘Just when her heart couldn’t possibly break more, another chip fell away.’

Michelle Griep is a great favorite of mine and this book only further cemented my opinion of her work. Here she presents her readers with a great story line. As usual, her research is impeccable and I love that aspect. I thoroughly enjoy looking into the history behind a book and she provides this very well.

Griep has crated characters that totally go down deep in my heart. And one I wanted to slap. Sorry, but that’s how I felt. Only further proof that she creates great characters, if she imagines up a really nasty one so hateful a reader wants to pop him. Just my opinion.

The story was of such talent that I could barely tear myself away at times. Absolutely and completely fascinating and one I won’t soon forget. There was great joy, great sadness and a thunderously perfect spiritual thread here, one that will ring loudly in my heart. Bravo!
