‘God Rescues’ by Jared Kennedy

About The Book
God keeps his promises in amazing and often surprising ways. The Bible stories in God Rescues show how God watched over his people and used Moses to save the Israelites from trouble.
Just as God watched over and rescued his people then, even now we are safe with Jesus. The perfect Passover lamb helps us remember God’s promise to forgive, and he keeps his promise to forgive today through Jesus, the Lamb of God.
Author Jared Kennedy uses simple words and concepts to help toddlers and preschoolers understand that God takes care of us and always keeps his promises. This beautifully illustrated board book for ages three to five is part of the Beginner’s Gospel Story Book series.
The preschool-friendly pictures in God Rescues will also help teach about shapes, colors, and counting. Children will be captivated by the bright, modern illustrations and the simple encouraging content will turn their hearts to Jesus.

Review: ‘In Honor’s Defense’ (Hanger’s Horsemen) by Karen Witemeyer

About The Book
He’s Faced Countless Perils on the Battlefield, but Nothing so Dangerous as Falling in Love.

Luke Davenport has been fighting all his life–for respect, for country, and for those unable to fight for themselves. But now that his Horsemen brothers are domesticated, he’s left alone to battle the wildness within. When an opportunity arises to take a job on his own, tracking down a group of rustlers, he jumps at the chance.

Damaris Baxter has mastered the art of invisibility. Plain and quiet, she hides in books and needlework, content to be overlooked. Until her brother dies suddenly, leaving her custody of her nephew. She moves to Texas to care for Nathaniel, determined to create the family for herself that she never thought she’d have and to give him the family he desperately needs.

When Nate finds himself knee-deep in trouble, Luke’s attempt to protect him leaves Damaris feeling indebted to the Horseman. But suspicions grow regarding the mysterious death of Damaris’s brother. And the more questions they ask, the more danger appears, threatening the family Luke may be unable to live without.

My Rating: 5 Stars!

‘I’m a Horseman, ma’am. Hunting down outlaws and bandits is what I do.’

I have been so eagerly anticipating this book in Karen Witemeyer’s ‘Hanger’s Horsemen’ series since I read the first one. I loved Preach’s characters and wanted to see what his story was. Witemeyer does not disappoint one bit here. Luke Davenport (Preach) finds more than he bargained for when he hires out to help a rancher. And Preach does have a back story, let me tell you, and has a lot to overcome. But those scripture verses he has memorized for so many years and has one for every occasion stand him in good stead throughout the book. I was cheering him on many times. This is, in my opinion, the best series ever from this author. They are books to sit proudly on my shelves and to be read over and over again. It sure was good to see all the Horsemen together again, even if just for a short time. Well done!

‘Sunburst’ (Sky King Ranch, book 2) by Susan May Warren

About The Book
When former Navy Seal and lifelong bachelor Ranger Kingston is called upon to take part in a rescue mission to save his brother Colt, who has been kidnapped by terrorists in Nigeria, he is shocked to find among the hostages a woman he knows and could never forget.

Noemi Sutton was attempting to return a young girl to her family in Boko Haran territory when she and the girl found themselves taken hostage, along with several others.

And while Ranger Kingston may be able to get the hostages away from their captors, he’ll need Noemi’s help if he ever hopes to get out of Nigeria alive.

Her solution? Pose as husband and wife. But when her uncle discovers the union, he insists on a traditional Nigerian wedding–binding Noemi to a man destined to break her heart. Worse, she’s discovered the real reason she was kidnapped, and anyone around her is bound to be caught in the cross fire. Including her so-called new husband.

She’ll need to figure out a way to leave the man she loves if she wants to save his life.

USA Today bestselling author Susan May Warren throws you into the thick of the action in this high-stakes, globe-trotting romance.

About Susan May Warren
Growing up in Minneapolis and attending the U of MN, I learned to love city life, although I’m a woodsy girl at heart. Or maybe I’m an adventurer — having lived and traveled all over the world, including Siberia Russia as a missionary for eight years. Probably that’s why my characters can’t sit still, and seem to get into one scrape after another — they’re too much like me! I love God, my family, my country, my church, and feel privileged every day to be able to write stories.
Here’s my “Official” Bio.

Of her books, Publisher’s Weekly has written, “Warren lays bare her characters’ human frailties, including fear, grief, and resentment, as openly as she details their virtues of love, devotion, and resiliency. She has crafted an engaging tale of romance, rivalry, and the power of forgiveness.”
And Library Journal adds, “Warren’s characters are well-developed and she knows how to create a first rate contemporary romance…”
Susan is also a nationally acclaimed writing coach, teaching at conferences around the nation and winner of the 2009 American Christian Fiction Writers Mentor of the Year award. My Rating: 5 Stars!

‘Yeah well. I’m a SEAL. I live for trouble.’

I am always so happy when I hear Susan May Warren has a new book coming out. And ecstatic when I get my hands on it and settle into it. Because that’s exactly what happens: I settle down deep and simply disappear into it. Completely.

Warren takes us into the second book of her Sky King Ranch series here and even further into danger as we dive into Ranger’s part of the story. From the bush in Nigeria in a terrorist camp and an elaborate mansion to the spring in Alaska, we are treated to Warren’s unmatchable style as she carries us along on a wave of a satisfying read that never fails to completely transport the reader to every setting.

And her spiritual thread, as always, is so powerful, and ministering to this reader. Warren will always remain one of my very favorite authors. Well done!

Review: ‘Among The Innocent’ by Mary Alford

About the Book
When Leah Miller’s entire Amish family was murdered ten years ago, the person believed responsible took his own life. Since then, Leah left the Amish and joined the police force. Now, after another Amish woman is found murdered with the same MO, it becomes clear that the wrong man may have been blamed for her family’s deaths.

As Leah and the new police chief, Dalton Cooper, work long hours struggling to fit the pieces together in order to catch the killer, they can’t help but grow closer. When secrets from both of their pasts begin to surface, an unexpected connection between them is revealed. But this is only the beginning. Could it be that the former police chief framed an innocent man to keep the biggest secret of all buried? And what will it mean for Leah–and Dalton–when the full truth comes to light?

USA Today bestselling author Mary Alford keeps you guessing as two determined souls plumb the dark depths of the past in order to forge a brighter future–together.

My Rating: 5 Stars!

‘Despite the swelteringly heat, a cold shiver sped down Leah’s spine. Something bad was approaching l. She could feel it moving in. ‘

Ten years ago, Leah’s Amish family was murdered in front of her. She was left near death. Now the killer who was king thought dead, is back. And he is killing Amish young women, with Leah in his sights.

Mary Alford starts this one off with such intensity that I was completely drawn in and barely could put the book down. She ramps up the fear as this horrifying killer plans everything down to the last detail, so very full of evil.
She gives us a great plot, good characters and enough suspense to keep us on the edge of our seats. Well done!

Review: ‘I’ll Be Seeing You’ by Robin Lee Hatcher

About The Book
Generations of secrets unfold as a young college student learns the truth about her great-grandmother’s World War II heartbreak and love. For fans of Francine Rivers and Karen Kingsbury.
Brianna Hastings’s life seems dull and full of disappointment until a handsome young man visits her church. She’s instantly smitten by the charming Greg, who leads an exciting, independent life—the kind of life she longs for. But when a college history assignment forces Brianna to interview her great-grandmother about life during World War II, she can’t believe it when Daisy presses her with questions about Greg’s character. “What sort of man is he? Who is he at his core?”
What could her great-grandmother possibly know about love at first sight?
The questions take both women back to Boise, Idaho, in the early 1940s, when war emphasized how fragile life could be. Daisy and her older sister pine for the same handsome bomber pilot—until one night of terrible judgment reveals their true characters and drives them apart. Trying to protect the people she loves the most, Daisy condemns herself to live a lie.
In the years that follow, as Daisy grapples with the consequences, she receives unexpected grace from a man she’s known her whole life but never looked at twice. Could what she learned about love save Brianna from heartache three generations later?

About The Book
Can real love grow between a wallflower and an unrepentant rogue?

Sarah Drayton is eager to spend time with her best friend at her crumbling Northumberland castle estate. Matrimony is the last thing on her mind and the last thing she expects to be faced with on a holiday. Yet she finds herself being inveigled into a marriage of convenience with her friend’s rakish brother.

When James Langley returns to his family’s estate, he can’t be bothered to pay attention to his responsibilities as the heir. War is raging and he wants only distraction, not serious tethers. But his roguish ways have backed him into a corner, and he has little choice but to obey his father’s stunning decree: marry before returning to war, or else. Suddenly he finds himself wedded to a clever and capable woman he does not love.

Sarah craves love and a place to belong, neither of which James offered before returning to the battlefront. Now everyone around her thinks she married above her station, and they have no intention of rewarding her for such impertinence. It isn’t until her husband returns from war seemingly changed that she begins to hope they may find real happiness. But can she trust that this rake has truly reformed?

When tragedy strikes, this pair must learn to trust God and his plans. Will they be destroyed . . . or will they discover that even in the darkest depths of night, the morning still holds hope?

About the Series
While most stories set in Regency England focus on the rich, the young, and the beautiful, award-winning author Carolyn Miller decided she wanted to give readers something different for a change. Her new Regency Wallflowers series follows the commoners, away from the hustle and bustle of 1810s London, out in the Lake District of England. She tells the stories of women who are slightly older and have few prospects for marriage, women who might be considered “wallflowers.”
Midnight’s Budding Morrow is the second book in the Regency Wallflowers series. The first book in the series is Dusk’s Darkest Shores.

4 Stars!
‘God had turned His back on her.’

Years ago, I read Carolyn Miller’s first book and realized here was an author I wanted to follow. She does a Regency incredibly well and I do enjoy a good Regency novel.

This series is quite impactful as it demonstrates that things don’t always work great for the believer in Christ. Indeed, we will have many problems. But Miller shows us through her imperfect characters, that as children of God, we always and without fail, have a Lord who will shelter us during the hard times and give us the strength we need to get through them. I look forward to the next book in this series. Well done!
