Let’s Pray For One Another!

I injured my back badly at the end of 2001 and for 8 months, I was in severe, near constant pain. My back has never been the same. But something happened during that time that blessed me so much. Some dear friends of ours, who had been our pastors briefly before going on the mission field, emailed me. Well, John emailed me. He had injured his back also and he told me, ‘every time my back hurts, I pray for your back, too.’ That touched me so very deeply and I thanked God for John, who I call my internet pastor.

I love to pray for other people. In fact, several times I have asked God to help me be more of a prayer-er. You see, when I need prayer, I want someone to lift me up to the Father, so I want to reciprocate. Since that back injury, I have developed several chronic conditions, none life threatening, but quite painful during flares. So when I am in a flare, I pray for those suffering from the same conditions. It doesn’t take long and who knows but what your prayer is the one to see them through that problem.

So why not let’s just make this a habit. Every time we go through something, and it doesn’t have to be physical, it could be a relationship issue, a job loss, etc, let’s lift up others who might be going through the same thing. We’d be helping and being obedient to the Word of God at the same time. So, are you ready to pray? I am!

  1. I know we have prayed for each other and it brings comfort to know that someone is lifting me to the Father! I pray for many and at times it can seem overwhelming. There so many needs!!! I try to bring them one at a time to the throne of Grace but sometimes I’m sure my brain is mush. Thankful He is capable of sorting them all out. 🙂

  2. Thanks to the Holy Spirit, even when we are so overwhelmed, God hears our heart’s desire. As soon as someone asks for prayer, I stop what I’m doing and pray for them. I agree that there are those times when we are suffering, that we need to lift others up who may be suffering the same as us. Thanks for the reminder, Susan.

  3. Lovely thoughts, Susan. And I like the idea of praying for others who are going through the same thing. It makes the suffering more bearable too. As a fellow back-pain sufferer, I’ll pray for you.
